What to Expect
At the center, children and families are welcomed to a warm, child-friendly, homelike environment. The interview room is designed to help children feel safe and comfortable, enhancing the effectiveness of the interview process. Using state-of-the-art audio/visual equipment, a trained child forensic interviewer conducts the interview while other team members observe in an adjoining room via a closed circuit television system.
Specialized, child friendly medical evaluations are provided on-site, using the latest techniques and technology. Victim advocacy and mental health services are available on-site, at no cost to families. Referrals to other community providers are made depending on the needs of each family.
The center sponsors and offers training to professionals and community members to learn best practice methods to recognize, respond and prevent child abuse.
